This position will be reporting to the Global Trade Compliance Director, the EU Trade Import/Export Compliance Adviser will manage the compliance activities and efforts in The Netherlands to ensure adherence with import/export laws, improve operational efficiency, develop KPI’s, as well as partner with other Global Trade Compliance Specialists to implement Albemarle’s trade compliance strategy.
Establish and enforce policies and procedures for import and export functions according to regulations.
Develop and maintain import/export policies, procedures, and instruction manuals to ensure compliance with Global Customs laws, regulations and administrative practices.
Ability to analyze technical data and clearly articulate the appropriate Classifications for Albemarle products.
Respond to inquiries from Customs Brokers and Freight Forwarders regarding Classification, documentation requirements, or other import and export regulations to ensure timely clearance.
Maintain import, export, and supply chain security compliance records in accordance with recordkeeping regulations.
Audit import and export documentation and processes for accuracy and compliance.
Coordinates and participates in periodic formal trade assessments to ensure that policies and procedures are properly followed and that all activities and transactions are in compliance with the appropriate import and export laws within the Region.
Develop and report on operational performance metrics.
Act as key contact in representing Albemarle when conducting Dutch Customs/EU business.
Manage, oversee and ensure compliance for the In-ward Processing regime.
Oversee and maintain Customs Authorizations/Procedures in the following areas: authorized exporter, Process under Customs Control, Preferential Origin, IPR, AEO….
Research, report, benchmark, and implement international trade best practices in order to ensure global import, export, supply chain security compliance and gain cost efficiencies.
Oversee the Self-Filing of Import Declarations.
Identify opportunities (eg.
Tariff Duty suspension) to facilitate trade in a cost-effective and compliant manner.
Interface with departments (legal department, IT department, purchasing, OTC, Finance) regarding trade compliance matters.
Willingness to travel 10-15% of the time.
Graduate Degree or a minimum of 4-6 years of relevant business experience Minimum of 4-6 years of experience in international trade with broker’s agency, multinational company or consulting firm which includes progressive experience in foreign Customs law interpretation and application Demonstrated proficiency in working with Customs and other export government regulatory agencies Solid process knowledge of classification, IPR, AEO, Tariff Duty Suspension and Preferential Origin criteria.
Able to complete responsibilities in a timely, professional and quality manner Effective written and oral communication skills;
able to express oneself clearly and in technical and non-technical terms Collaborative and effective team player and able to work with teams who are globally dispersed Ability to interact and communicate effectively with internal and external personnel at all levels.
Strong understanding of WTO valuation methodologies Dangerous Goods Experience a plus Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and data management software (SAP) Proven experience in the use of global trade software platforms (e.g.
SAP Global Trade Services module) Fluent English & Dutch is a must
